Anyways, I figured I'd post the next part (: Comments are welcome!
I walk
steadily out the door, down the hall, to the Steam. The Steam is basically a
multi-person bathroom, with 30 or so showers, 15 toilets, a lot of sinks, and
other little bathroom nessecities here and there. I go over to a cupboard, and
take a pair of clothes, long gray tights with an equally gray shirt to match,
off the shelf marked with my size. I quickly hurry to take my shower. The steam
and warmth sharpening my mind and senses. When I’m finished I quickly dress and
head to the cafeteria. Breakfast is a tasteless, no doubt “nutrient filled”
pasty oatmeal. I find myself a seat next to a small blonde girl, who looks
about ten, and go about eating my breakfast.
“What’s your
name?” she asks me with a tiny smile. My spoon falls into my bowl, and I gaze
at her dumb founded “I’m Julyn.” She
speaks again. I clear my throat, and glance around nervously. We are the only
ones in the cafeteria, and the food personel are focused intently on talking to
each other, cooking, and their hairnets. I clear my throat again, preparing to reply.
“Del-” I
manage, then reach my hand for my throat. The burning sensation is terrible.
The girl gives me a thoughtful look, then frowns slightly.
“No one
around here but me talks very well,” she tells me “Actually, you’re the only
one whose told me your name.” her frown quickly turns into a smile
“It’s nice
to meet you Del. Can you say anything else?” she furrows her brow. I close my
eyes for a moment, wondering what to tell her. I know quite a few words, but
saying them is difficult.
“No speak.”
I tell her softly, frowning at her, hoping she understands my message. My
throat burns so much from this small statement, I quickly pick up my mug and
guzzle down the water inside it. Julyn pauses a moment, deep in thought. A
moment or two later, she lifts her head again.
“I’m not
supposed to be able to talk am I?” She asks, quieter this time. I nod slightly,
as more people start to enter the cafeteria. I quickly pull my finger across my
lips and cross my heart as a symbol that she can trust me, and to keep her
little mouth shut. For now.
Thats all for now, switching to black ink though, because though blue burns against the bornw xD Hope you enjoyed! More to come.
